Ooty Toy Train
Nilgiri rail system is unique as it is the steepest one in Asia. It was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO during 2005. Another interesting thing associated with the Nilgiri Railway is that the youngest X class loco is over 50 years old and the oldest is 80 years old. A century after it first attracted travelers, the Nilgiri Mountain Toy train continues to inspire weaving through forests, moving through time, along the valleys and into the little dark winding tunnels, round the bends, up the gradients, through the glens, trees and birds.
The Botanical Gardens
The Gardens, divided into several sections, cover an area of around 22 hectares, and lie on the lower slopes of Doddabetta peak. The garden has a terraced layout. It is maintained by the Tamil Nadu Horticulture Department. Its architect was William Graham McIvor. The Marquis of Tweedale prepared the initial layout during the late 1840s. During that time Ootacamund (Ooty) was under British control. The Gardens have around a thousand species, both exotic and indigenous, of plants, shrubs, ferns, trees, herbal and bonsai plants. In the centre of the Gardens lie a fossilized tree trunk estimated to be 20 million years old
St. Stephen’s Church
Built in 1829, is one of the oldest churches in the Nilgiris district. The church dates back to the 19th century. Stephen Rumbold Lushington, the Governor of Madras, who keenly felt the need for a cathedral exclusively for the British, in Ooty, laid the foundation for the church on 23 April 1829, to coincide with the birthday of King George IV. The stained glass windows are a visual delight. The large wooden beams used to construct the church were carried by elephants from a distance of 120 kilometres from Tipu Sultan’s Palace in Mysore.

Ooty Lake
It is an artificially constructed lake with picturesque natural surroundings. The boat house offers boating facilities with Paddle boats, Row boats, and Motor boats. It also features a garden, a mini train and an amusement park. Ooty lake is an artificial lake constructed by John Sullivan, in 1824. The water flowing down mountain streams in the Ooty valley was dammed to form the lake. The lake was originally intended to be used for fishing with ferries being used to travel across the lake.

Rose Garden
It is located in the heart of Ooty is one of the largest rose gardens in India and also a popular tourist attraction. The beautiful garden is spread across 10 acres of land and houses some of the largest collections of roses in the country including miniature roses, hybrid tea roses, floribunda, ramblers, black and green roses and many other unique varieties. The Rose Garden is not only a delight for the eyes and the senses but also a must-visit for those interested in horticulture.
Murugan Temple
Elk Hill is the place in Udagamandalam (Ooty) South India. Famous for Lord Murugar Temple. It is a Replica of Batu caves Malaysia. Approximately 40 feet statue of Lord Murugar constructed and placed in the form of Suthai in a standing posture out side this temple open space. *Side view of the Temple from Top* The Moolavar is very much pretty .Other than Lord Murugar, Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Goddesses Sakthi, Nava Kanikas and Navagraha sanithanams are there in the hill
Doddabetta peak
It is the highest known peak in the region of Ooty with its apex standing at 2,623 meters above the sea level. It actually stays in the suburbs of Ooty and is hardly 10 km from the place.  If the weather gods are on your side and keep the sky clear, your eyes will travel as long as to Mysore.  We can see karnataka border on one side, kerala border from the other side and mettupalayam city from the third side. its an amazing and lovely experience!  Another main attraction here is the telescope house consisting of two telescopes through which people can enjoy the clear view of the city.
Pykara Falls and Pykara Lake
Pykara is the name of a village and river located 19 km from Ooty in the Indian State of Tamil Nadu. A boat house on the Pykara reservoir is an added attraction for tourists. Pykara boats of well protected fenced shoals. There is a restaurant and motor boats(20 minutes ride) and speed boats(10 minutes ride) are available. Pykara waterfalls flows through Murkurti, Pykara and Glen Morgan dams. There is a forest rest house in Pykara and also the scenic beauty of this place is extraordinary
Avalanche
It is a reserve forest area, about 30km from Ooty. Avalanche is renowned for avalanche lake and Avalanche sanctuary. The Avalanche lake is one of the best tourist attraction in Ooty. The Avalanche dam is also called as Canada Dam because Cand funded it. The lake is fully surrounded by blooming flowers which give a delight to your eyes. It is near to the Emerald lake. The Avalanche lake is also one among the major source water supply for the Kundah Hydro Power stations. The avalanche sanctuary is fully surrounded by the dense forest and you can enjoy the beauty of nature and can have a peaceful and blissful trip.
